If cruising at speeds of 28 knots in exceptional style and comfort sounds like your kind of water-ride, the 38 Eastbay Hardtop would have fit you well. Overall, the protection and ventilation offered by the hard top design was hard to beat, a fact that's of special interest to those who are dedicated to all-weather fast cruising. Many owners also praised the 38 Eastbay's all-important design extra: the versatile helm deck. Should one have chosen to close-off the helm deck with an optional canvas cover, the usable amount of living space expanded. As for traditional craftsmanship, expect the exceptional attention to detail so apparent in each Grand Banks-crafted, C. Raymond Hunt-designed yacht. From the high-quality finish in the interior of the hard top, to the teak decking in the cockpit, helm area and cabin sole, all was as you would wish from one of the world's leading yacht makers. Below deck, the quality and care with which the Eastbay was constructed continued to be clearly evident. To port, a well-equipped galley as well as generous storage and counter space made onboard living a pleasant cruising experience. Across from the galley was a dining/salon area that featured a handsomely crafted teak table surrounded on three sides by a comfortable settee. Even better, the table could have been lowered to create a double berth for overnight guests. As for the forward stateroom, one could have chosen a traditional V-berth style or a double-size island bed. Overall, a solid, long-term investment for those who desired both speed and comfort. |
